Amazon Dethrones Walmart as World's Largest Company by Revenue
Amazon hit $717B in 2025 sales, edging past Walmart's $713.2B to claim the top revenue crown globally.
It's official. Amazon has knocked Walmart off the throne as the world's biggest company by revenue.
The e-commerce and cloud giant reported $717 billion in sales for 2025, surpassing Walmart's $713.2 billion for the twelve months ending January 31. That's a gap of roughly $3.8 billion — tight, but decisive.
The milestone marks a seismic shift in corporate power. Walmart dominated the top spot for decades, built on brick-and-mortar retail dominance. Amazon got there through a radically different playbook — online retail, cloud computing, advertising, and an ever-expanding logistics empire.
For context, Amazon's revenue machine now spans AWS, Prime subscriptions, third-party marketplace fees, and a growing ad business. Walmart still moves more physical goods, but Amazon's diversified revenue streams finally tipped the scales.
The king is dead. Long live the king.
