Disgraced FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried files long-shot appeal claiming new witness testimony could overturn his fraud conviction.

SBF Throws Hail Mary, Seeks New Trial From Prison

Sam Bankman-Fried isn't going quietly. The former FTX golden boy, currently serving 25 years behind bars for fraud, just filed a request for a new trial.

His argument? Fresh witness testimony could allegedly blow holes in the prosecution's case that brought down his crypto empire.

Legal experts are calling it a long shot. SBF was convicted in November 2023 after a dramatic trial that exposed the spectacular collapse of FTX, once valued at $32 billion. The jury didn't buy his "I didn't know what was happening" defense.

His co-conspirators, including ex-girlfriend Caroline Ellison, flipped and testified against him. That's typically game over for appeals.

But SBF's betting on new evidence changing the calculus. Given his track record with risky bets, we know how this usually ends.
