Meta, TikTok, and Snap Submit to Teen Safety Audits

The three biggest names in social media just agreed to let outsiders grade their homework. Meta, TikTok, and Snap will undergo independent assessments evaluating their teen safety measures.

The benchmark? A framework of 24 standards created by mental health experts specifically designed to measure how effectively platforms shield young users from harm.

This isn't a voluntary self-assessment situation. Independent auditors will rate each company's performance against the full checklist.

The move comes as lawmakers worldwide ramp up pressure on social platforms over youth mental health concerns. Whether these assessments have any teeth remains to be seen. But at minimum, the big three are now on record agreeing to external accountability.

No word yet on when results drop or what happens if they fail spectacularly.
