ASML Denies EUV Lithography Machine Ended Up in China
Dutch chipmaking giant pushes back on claims that one of its advanced EUV systems was shipped to China.
ASML is flatly denying reports that one of its extreme ultraviolet lithography machines made its way to China. The Dutch semiconductor equipment maker says the claims are simply inaccurate — it has never shipped an EUV scanner to China, period.
The denial comes after reports surfaced that U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick raised the issue directly with ASML's leadership, questioning whether one of the company's most advanced chipmaking tools had ended up in Chinese hands.
EUV lithography systems are among the most critical and tightly controlled pieces of technology on the planet. They're essential for manufacturing cutting-edge chips, and export restrictions have kept them out of China as part of broader efforts to limit the country's semiconductor capabilities.
ASML's response was unambiguous: no EUV system has been delivered to China. The company appears keen to shut down the narrative before it gains further traction.
