Apple Building Standalone Siri App in Major Voice Assistant Overhaul

Apple is going all-in on a Siri reboot. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the company is internally testing a standalone Siri app — a dramatic departure from the assistant's current embedded experience across Apple devices.

The overhaul doesn't stop at a dedicated app. Apple is also building an "Ask Siri" feature designed to work across its ecosystem, alongside a "Write with Siri" tool that suggests the assistant is getting serious text-generation capabilities.

The Dynamic Island on iPhone is getting a visual refresh tied to the new Siri experience, giving the assistant a more prominent and interactive presence on-screen.

This is Apple's most ambitious rethink of Siri since its 2011 debut. The company has faced mounting pressure as competitors ship increasingly capable AI assistants. A standalone app signals Apple wants Siri to be a destination, not just a background utility.
