Zoox Expands Robotaxi Testing to Phoenix and Dallas

Zoox is rolling its purpose-built robotaxis into two new cities. The company has kicked off testing in both Phoenix and Dallas, expanding its autonomous fleet footprint significantly.

With these additions, Zoox now operates test fleets across 10 markets. That roster already includes the San Francisco Bay Area and Las Vegas — two cities that have become proving grounds for the autonomous vehicle industry.

Unlike most competitors retrofitting existing car designs, Zoox builds its robotaxis from scratch. No steering wheel. No pedals. Fully bidirectional. The vehicles are designed exclusively for autonomous ride-hailing from the ground up.

The expansion signals Zoox is moving aggressively beyond its California home turf, planting flags in major metro areas with different road conditions and driving patterns. Ten markets is a serious operational footprint for a company still in the testing phase.
