Samsung's Texas Chip Plant Hits Yet Another Delay

Samsung Foundry can't seem to stick to a schedule. The company has once again pushed back the timeline for its massive chip fabrication plant in Taylor, Texas, with mass production now slated for early 2027 instead of early 2026.

The delay isn't a one-off, either. Sources say Samsung has "frequently" shifted the goalposts on the Taylor facility, making this the latest in a pattern of postponements.

The Taylor plant is a cornerstone of Samsung's ambitions to compete more aggressively in the contract chipmaking space — a market dominated by TSMC. Every delay widens that gap.

For Texas, which banked on the plant bringing jobs and economic activity, the repeated timeline slips are a growing frustration. Samsung has yet to publicly address the latest schedule change.
