Meta Flooded TV with 3,500+ Ads Before Teen Addiction Trial
Instagram's parent company launched a massive ad blitz promoting teen safety features ahead of landmark court case.
Meta went on a TV advertising spree before facing a major social media addiction lawsuit. The company bought over 3,500 commercials across CNN, Fox, and other networks, all pushing Instagram's Teen Accounts safety features.
The timing is no coincidence. With a landmark trial looming over claims that social media hooks young users, Meta is clearly playing defense in the court of public opinion.
Teen Accounts launched last year with built-in restrictions for users under 18, including private profiles by default and limited DM access from strangers. The feature was Meta's answer to mounting pressure from lawmakers and parents alike.
Whether the ad campaign moves the needle with jurors or just burns cash remains to be seen. But 3,500 spots is one hell of a PR push.
